This hands-on workshop invites PhD students to step back and explore the real-world relevance of their research using the LEGO® Serious Play® methodology. Through individual building and guided reflection, you’ll clarify what your research truly stands for, the unmet needs it could address, and what currently stands between knowledge and application.
We will use the LEGO® Serious Play® methodology, a creative and innovative way to visualize different ideas about the challenges facing research and how to make it useful to society.

Comparative assessment of therapeutic modalities and the deliberate design of preclinical platforms
This presentation will explore ongoing research efforts aimed at broadening the therapeutic landscape by including innovative treatment modalities such as mRNA delivery systems, vaccination strategies or cell therapies. We will elaborate on the pros and cons of the different advanced modalities and will focus on the design of the appropriate preclinical discovery platforms needed along the drug development pathway. The choice of modality is influenced by many different factors and impacts the journey of the drug development with respect to platforms, cell sources and read-outs. We will elaborate on scientific, regulatory, technical, and logistical considerations related to the respective modality using HER2 as one of the cornerstones of cancer therapeutics.

AMR Initiative actions (service catalog)
ISGlobal’s Antimicrobial Resistance Initiative (AMR) presents a comprehensive catalogue of innovative services, resources and programmes aimed at addressing one of the most pressing global health challenges. The catalogue includes digital tools, educational materials, training courses, citizen science activities, practical workshops and active projects that connect research, dissemination, community participation and support for public policies.
This proposal provides a comprehensive framework to promote transformative actions in the field of antimicrobial resistance, with a multidisciplinary approach based on research, pedagogy and the One Health model. The resources are designed for a wide variety of audiences – citizens, health professionals, educational communities, local governments and social entities – and are offered both in self-use format and in on-demand activities.
The catalogue highlights innovative initiatives such as:
– Citizen science programs (SAFE, ENDEMIC)
– Practical workshops such as Let’s do an antibiogram! or creative-educational activities for children and young people
– Digital tools and virtual laboratories to understand and visualize the AMR
– Certified courses for health professionals
– Multilingual outreach resources (infographics, videos, printable materials, blog, scrolling)
– Active projects in public health, the environment and One Health
This activity is presented as an opportunity to give visibility to a set of innovative actions that promote knowledge, prevention and collective response to antimicrobial resistance, with a strong educational, participatory and social impact component.
